The Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) in Bahirji Smarak Mahavidyalaya, Basmat is a dedicated body formed to address grievances of any nature including sexual harassment, discrimination, and other such grievances faced by the members of the college. The committee is constituted as per the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition, and Redressal) Act, 2013 and the University Grants Commission (Prevention, Prohibition, and Redressal of Sexual Harassment of Women Employees and Students in Higher Educational Institutions) Regulations, 2015.

Aims and Objectives of the Committee

Scope of the Committee

The scope of the Internal Complaints Committee is to provide a platform for the victims of any form of harassment or discrimination to report their grievances and to seek redressal for the same. The committee is also responsible for providing an impartial and fair hearing to the complainant and to ensure that the grievances are addressed in a timely manner. The committee is also responsible for providing an effective system of monitoring to ensure that any form of harassment or discrimination is prevented and addressed in a timely manner.

Procedure of the Committee

The procedure of the Internal Complaints Committee involves the complainant fling a written complaint to the committee. The complaint should include the details of the incident, the names of the persons involved, the date and time of the incident, and any other relevant details. The committee shall then investigate the complaint and take appropriate measures to ensure that the grievances are addressed.

Actions/Punishments of the Committee

The Internal Complaints Committee is responsible for taking appropriate action in the event of any form of harassment or discrimination. The committee may take the following actions depending on the severity of the incident.

Complaints Committee was duly formed in the college to look into, and adjudicate matters relating to any kind of sexual harassment meted out to students or female employees in the institution. To that end the college has been vigilant about instances of gender discrimination, victimization and abuse, and acts promptly to address/redress any issues that violated the provisions of the said Act. Moreover, it plays a proactive role in averting instances of sexual harassment by motivating students to attend the programme organized by the Women’s Cell of the college on gender discrimination, and sexual harassment.

Activities

The cell provided awareness sessions about sexual abuse in online classes with the help of teachers. Anti-sexual harassment cell and Women Empowerment Cell in collaboration with other departments conducted different activities to provide a platform for students to share their experience and.

Our college is actively engaged in raising awareness about the importance of safety for our female students. The college authorities have collaborated with the Police to address the issue of eve teasing, resulting in the following actions:
