1.Brief history

Commerce faculty started functioning in 1971. The year in which our college was established in the beginning Shree R.B. Hulkane was the Head of commerce faculty up to 1997. Now he is working as a principal at "Datta College" Hadgaon, Nanded And Shri Narwade P.M. appoiment as a Head of Department from Feb. 1997.

In our early days the main problem was shortage of Students. To over come this, we (teachers) decide to go the neighbouring villages at the beginning of academic year, to persuade students to join our college. Initially we promise them free lodging and consensual Boarding even then students were reluctant to join our college. Those who join had no academic background. They were mostly generation literate with poor academic score.

The commerce course is comparatively difficult and hard to the rural students for making this course easy under the able guidance of then principal S.B. Bagal. The faculty members took extra efforts by way of engaging extra coaching, personal guidence, advice etc. owing to this faculty developed the academic standard of the rural students

Department has not only provided education services to the students but also given more emphasis is given to quality education in commerce. As a result of this Department has achieved best academic result with the hard work and active participation of the faculty members. Pertaining to this following student stood in rank in the university Examination of Marathawada University Aurangabad.

Dr. S. R. Dhembre joined the department as permanent faculty member on 21/10/1997. Since then, two faculty members were working as permanent faculty. Dr. S. R. Dhembre became the Head of the Department on Jan 2024. Since then, he has continued serving the department as HOD till today. In 22 Oct 2010 Dr. P. S. Jadhav joined the department as permanent faculty.

Faculties have played the role as NSS Programme Officer. Faculty members of the department continue to engage in research activities.

Lots of Alumni of the department are playing the role in the society as politician government servant, teacher, and entrepreneur.

The department motivates the students to participate in different cultural competitions and competitive examinations. Several girl students have won the cash prizes on deferent occasions.

Over the last two years department successfully running the competitive examinations and guidance cell. More than hundred students are attending regular classes.

B. Highlight of the center:
A commerce research center is a dedicated academic unit focused on conducting research in the field of commerce, often within a university or college. These centers provide a platform for scholars, faculty, and students to engage in research, contribute to knowledge creation, and address challenges in the global business landscape. They may offer research programs, facilitate collaborations, and organize events related to commerce and Management. The Department of Commerce UG & PG of the college has striven tirelessly in pursuit of excellence in commerce education and inculcates research culture among the students. The Commerce research center was established in 2021 with an objective to create quality researchers and to make the students to meet the challenges in industry. The department has got approval from SRTM University to start research center in commerce in 2021 Academic Year. A number of research papers have been published in national and international research journals and some of the research papers have appeared in journals with high impact factor. The college library has more than 6000 commerce related books, 10 journals and 100 + online journals and books for the purpose of carrying out the research. The department strongly believes that it will produce quality researchers in commerce and quality research work.
