Establishment of the Cell

The OBC Cell of Bahirji Smarak Mahavidyalaya, Basmathnagar was established in 2010 with the purpose to empower the OBC students. The college takes special interest in facilitating financial support to students from these communities from government agencies and other sources. The cell is always engaged to solve the various problems and development of Other Backward Communities and acts as per the provisions of the Constitution of India. It provides extensive and proactive services to all students enrolled in various academic programmes of the college. The goal of the cell is to enhance the psychological well-being of OBC students of the college and to enable them to realise their dreams. The college takes special interest in facilitating financial support to students belonging to socially and economically weaker sections of the society. It also strives to maintain an environment where all communities can participate in academic and research activities without any sort of discrimination on the basis of caste or creed.



Objectives

OBC Cell has been created in the college to resolve issues related to the OBC Students. Following are the important Objectives of OBC Cell:


• To aware the OBC students regarding various scholarship program of State& Central Government.
• To council and guide OBC students about various issues and help them to manage academic activities.
• To resolve problems related to OBC students.
• The cell has been created to assist the OBC students in their exhaustive development.
• To implement OBC reservation as per university guidelines and to ensure protection and reservation provided in the constitution of India.
• To make them aware of their rights as members of the backward communities.
• To help them in resolving their academic backwardness.
• To instill confidence and provide them with emotional support and counselling.
• To circulate State Government and UGC’s decisions about different scholarship programs.
• To communicate with the students and motivate them for better future planning.
• To deal with representations received from Other Backward Classes (OBC) Candidates regarding their admission, scholarships and other similar issues in the College.
